AUSC OFFICE

African UnionΒ Member StatesΒ established the African Union Sports Council as a Specialised Technical Office to direct, co-ordinate and superintend activities of the entire African Sport Movement. AUSC is responsible for the co-ordination of the African Sports Movement and it is a forum for concerted action between Member States for the promotion and development of sports and development through sport in Africa.

The Council functions under the direction of the African Union Commission and falls under the Health, Humanitarian affairs & Social Development Department.Β The Headquarters are situated in Yaounde, Cameroun. The Secretariat is managed by a Coordinator and its organizational structure, which conforms to the general policies and guidelines of the African Union is designed and staffed by professional, technical and administrative personnel. The current Coordinator of the AUSC is Dr. Decius Chipande (Zambia).
