On 22 June 2025, H.E. Amb. Amma A. Twum-Amoah, African Union Commissioner for Health, Humanitarian Affairs and Social Development held a bilateral meeting with Dr. Ashraf Sobhy, Honourable Minister of Youth and Sports of the Arab Republic of Egypt in Cairo to discuss preparations for the 14thย Edition of the African Games, scheduled to take place in Cairo, Egypt in 2027.
H.E. Amba. Amma conveyed her appreciation to the Honourable Minister of Youth and Sport for his unwavering commitment to empowering youth through sports and for extending an invitation to the African Union to participate in the initial planning meeting for the Games.
The Honourable Minister Dr. Sobhy stressed that the Arab Republic of Egypt is prepared to host the African Games for the second time in Cairo and all the necessary sports facilities and infrastructure are in place. The meeting agreed to speed up the process of finalising the Protocol Agreement between the African Union and the Arab Republic of Egypt for hosting the 14th Edition of the African Games.
