The African Union Sport Council(AUSC) and the African Paralympic Committee (APC) held a virtual meeting on the 20th January 2022. This was the first meeting between the two sports organisations aimed at cooperating on promoting Paralympic Sport.
Dr. Decius H. Chipande Coordinator for AUSC shared on the structure and mandate of AUSC and Mr. Celestin Nzeyimana, Secretary General of APC presented on the priorities for APC and the new Executive Committee led by Mr Samson Dean from Ghana. In attendance were the two APC Vice Presidents Dr. Hayat Khattab from Egypt and Mr. Rodrigo Bejarano from Cape Verde. The two parties discussed the need to strengthen advocacy on support for Paralympic Sport across the continent, and using sport to promote inclusion and socio-economic development
