The African Union Sports Council held its first Regional Quarterly meeting for the year 2022

The African Union Sports Council held its first Quarterly Meeting of the year 2022 with its five AU Sports Council Regions. The meeting that was chaired by the Coordinator of AU Sports Council Dr Decius Chipande discussed matters concerning on-going programmes and activities such as the validation of the Policy for Sustainable Development of Sports in Africa that is currently being validated by AU Sports Council Regions and Member States. The meeting also got an update on the preparations for the 2023 African Games to be held in Accra, Ghana. AU Sport Council Regions shared the achievements and challenges that they experienced in 2021 and their planned programmes and activities of the year 2022. The 5 AU Sports Council Development Regions are aligned to the geographical distribution of the African Union and develop their own strategies, structures, programmes and resource mobilization within the objectives and mandate of the AU Sport Council.
